Blog World Expo 2009: Dinner with Leaders
While in Las Vegas, NV for BlogWorld Expo 2009, I had dinner at the Mirage's STACK restaurant with a table of leaders in their respective industries, however the common bond amongst us all was social media. The conversations were inspiring, thoughtful, and humorous. While I was my normally mellow self, I admit I was a giddy girl inside. Here's a list of the attendees, do check out how they're making a difference and changing the world:
- Manya Susoev or @ManyaS on Twitter handles the interactive marketing and community management of innovative hospitality company, The Light Group. Get in touch with her and the team at The Light Group, they're creating new ways to host events.
- @PRSarahEvans is the PR consultant for SEVANS Strategy and an influencer in the social media and Twitter communities. To be in Sarah's energy is an experience itself, she's the real deal in the social media field.
- James Andrews @KeyInfluencer on Twitter and Managing Partner of social media marketing and content development company, Everywhere. His personality is larger than life and you can tell that he puts his soul into his work. He's changing the world, fo' sho'!
- Erica Hartfield @musicfan214 on Twitter and Digital Producer for Everywhere. One of their campaigns, #beatcancer recently set a new Guinness World Record. More than a music fan, Erica and I chatted about HNL, ATL, and the good things about life.
- @LTLLine is taking the Twittersphere by storm building his online community one tweet and blog post at a time. Known and respected throughout the world as Grammy award-winning songwriter, producer, and Founder of So So Def Records; Jermaine Dupri is embracing the world of social and new media. He's blogging daily at Global14 but I suggested he also revive his Huffington Post blog too. Genuine, engaging, and personable -- what more can you ask for in a leader?
- Don Lemon @DonLemonCNN on Twitter anchors CNN Newsroom and was named by Ebony as one of the most influential blacks in America. He is setting trends merging traditional and new media, the man carries both his Blackberry and iPhone to stay ahead!
- Tyrone Davis is 1/7 of Jermaine Dupri's supergroup, Ocean's 7 and his assistant. Guess what we talked about? iPhone apps! He's a cool cat, as humble as they come.
- As the head of social media for Ford Motor Company, Scott Monty @scottmonty on Twitter, is bringing sexy back to one of America's beloved companies. He shares his social media insights on his Social Media Marketing blog and with no rest for the determined, he's currently meeting with Martha Stewart as I type this.
- @BrianSolis is one to watch, follow, and listen too. He's a leader in multiple industries; PR, social media, marketing, photography, and speaking. I am looking forward to his visit to Hawaii (hint, hint).
- The CEO of IZEA has a tough job, but if you've met Ted Murphy and experienced his positive energy and insane sense of humor, you wouldn't think so. He's @tedmurphy on Twitter, and I look forward to somehow working with him in the future.
- As the Co-Editor of Mashable, any person in social media marketing should recognize Ben Parr. @BenParr on Twitter his articles receive hundreds if not thousands of re-tweets, oh one can aspire!
- BlogWorld Expo CEO and Co-Founder Rick Calvert is changing the world one conference at a time. He was part of the So Much more Hawaii team and is returning for [re]Think: Hawaii conference.
- @JasonKintzler is the Founder of PitchEngine and I missed out on an opportunity to sit and talk with him at dinner, however I am already clicking through to learn more about how Pono Media can effectively use PitchEngine.
- @TamaraKnechtel is a member of the Everywhere team, and unfortunately I was unable to sit and chat with one of the minds that put together the #beatcancer campaign. Wonder if Tamara would fly out to Hawaii?
I have had many fortunes in my life, this dinner is now one of them.
