Roy Yamaguchi Extends Aloha to Haiti

UPDATE: This event is officially sold out! Mahalo to the Hawaii community. There may be another event, I will keep you posted.
Extending Aloha to Haiti
On Friday, January 22, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Original Roy's Restaurant in Hawaii Kai, in partnership with the Hawaii Farm Bureau, Chef Roy Yamaguchi will humbly prepare a 4 course dinner of traditionally prepared Haitian cuisine. All proceeds will go to relief efforts for Haiti.
Adding additional Aloha to this event, guests will not be charged for the dinner, but are asked to place a check for an amount that they can afford in envelopes provided by the restaurant. Checks should be made out to the American Red Cross with a notation of Haiti Relief.
“Our hearts go out to the people of Haiti, and we feel that we need to do our part. In the grand scheme of things, it may not move the needle but, we feel that is the responsibility of those of us who can - to reach out a helping hand to a people who had very little to begin with and now are struggling beyond our wildest comprehensions. I don’t have a lot of experience with Caribbean food but, I will give it my best shot. I’m not afraid of embarrassing myself for a cause as important as this,” Yamaguchi said.
Another way the Hawaii community could help out, is in the preparation, “I also wouldn’t mind if someone with some background in Haitian cooking could lend me a hand,” shared Yamaguchi.
My family and I will be attending this event and I am looking to my Hawaii community to come out and show their support.
Seating for this private dinner is limited, please call (808) 396-7697 for reservations.
